Benefits of Swimming for Your Mental Wellbeing
Regular swimming, even just half an hour at a time, is known to be effective for lowering incidences of depression and anxiety and improve sleep patterns. Swimming releases endorphins, the natural feel-good hormones that lead us to experience a greater sense of happiness and wellbeing.
There’s a growing interest in the idea that swimming can reduce stress more than other sports. Studies on animals have found that swimming can help promote the growth of new brain cells that break down during chronic (long-term) stress.
I find that a 20 min swim clears my head and helps me think more rationally. Stress can become overwhelming and cause more damage than good. A swim helps me stay cool, calm, and collected to perform at my best, whether it's at home, sports, or at work.
